Georgia Trip Dec 2010

This is the 2nd year in a row we have come to the Georgia house after Christmas. But this year, there is a whole bunch of snow. My mom and I left on Monday December 27 around 9 am with 5 kids in tow and 2 cars. We made a pit stop at my sister n law's house outside of Macon GA. While inside the house, my mom asked the girls to please go turn on the truck so JC (my mom's dog) wouldn't freeze. Well, they didn't turn the truck on, they just turned the key and stopped once the heat came on. And guess what happened? You got it, the battery DIED! So Carla came out and helped jump Graymo's truck off and then we begin our venture the rest of the way to Blairsville. But we made a pitstop in Jackson, GA at an Autozone and got a new battery, ate dinner at Pizza Hut. We finally arrived at Cozy Cove Road at around midnight. Snow, Snow everywhere and a lot of it. We had to park at the end of the driveway, because we couldn't drive in the drive. Got inside, made a fire in the fireplace and went to bed.

All 5 of the kids were very excited to see snow! This was PJ's (a friend of Travis) very first time to see snow. He was a little concerned that in the morning it would all be melted. I assured him the snow was not going to be going anywhere!!!! We can only hope no more comes down while we are here.

Happy Holiday!

Vacation

Vacation: -a period spent away from home or business in travel or recreation. - a period of exemption from work granted to an employee. And my favorite - FREEDOM.

We left Florida as soon as we picked Shawn up from work in Orlando and headed straight to the mountains. (My parents home away from home in Blairsville, GA). We arrived in the wee hours of the morning. But I wanted to be here to start our "freedom" from every day life as soon as possible.

On Saturday and Sunday we kind of just hung out and went driving around the area. Monday, we left and headed to Gatlinburg, TN to spend 2 days in the area. We wandered around Gatlinburg ( I love this town!) and on Tuesday we went to Dollywood. Great fun was had by us!!!! Then on Tuesday we headed to Knoxville, TN for the tour of the University of Tennessee. (Cassidy has talked for a few years now, this is where she wants to go to college.) So we started the college tours, by U of T being our first one. ( Wow, that was exciting, even if it was U of T...wish I would of gone to college)

Now we are back in Blairsville to finish our week here with some tubing and relaxing before we get up early early am on Saturday to head back home! (Back to the real world... no more freedom to get up when we want, go where we want, when we want! I could so get use to this life, but I guess unless I win the lottery or someone leaves us a boat load of money, I must go back to work, to make money so we can do this again..... so I guess this is probably why you really only get so many weeks of vacation a year, because we all really can't afford on going vacation time, even if we really want to just stay on vacation..... maybe one day.

Happy Summer VAcaiton!

Favorite sport--to watch or play and why (journal writing for Monday June 7)

My fave sport........ Well, first off playing sports has never really been my thing. I was never athlectic growing up. I am now getting into running 5K's. Hope to maybe one day run a marathon, but the jury is still out on that. But I am having fun running these 5K's.

I love to go to Nascar races (or any car races for that matter). The sound, the smell, the speed. I always wanted to be a race car driver, but never was meant to be, I guess. But being at the track, is such feeling.....

I love to watch Cassidy play basketball. I was never a really big fan of basketball, but since Cassidy started playing basketball about 5 years ago, I have really gotten into it. And next year she is moving to varsity in high school. Should be lots of fun!!!!!

Happy Monday!

Sunday.......goals for upcoming week (journal for June 6)

Well, another weekend come and gone. Back to the real world tomorrow. I so wish, Monday was another Sunday. But then, I guess when Tuesday rolled around we would want it to be Monday again! What a vicious cycle!!!!

Well, this week what do I hope to get accomplished........ Cassidy has baskeball practice and camp everyday but Friday.. So my wonderful mother is going to take her and pick her up from all of this... BB practice is from 8 am - 10 am, and then BB camp at school starts at noon and goes til 6 pm. I am so lucky that my mom lives close by and doesn't have to report to work (like most of us have to do everyday) ---I am not AT ALL SAYING that what my mom does isn't work, or is any less important, but it does make it a little easier when your schedule Monday - Friday is yours to make, and can work everything you need to do around that. Unlike having to be at work Monday - Friday at 730 am and work until 430- 500 pm..... I have been so lucky to have my mom close by all these years (and I am not sure she really knows how much I do appreciate her... I tell her very often). My mom has been a true blessing for me. And of course, the time is getting closer that my dad wants to retire, and of course they will be moving away, but Cassidy is almost 16.... ( 1 1/2 years away) so she will be able to get herself places then too! I love my mom!!!!! Ok, I think I have gotten off the path of my goals for the week....

-Cassidy has a dentist appointment on Wednesday to get a filling.... she has never had a cavity before, so I guess we have been pretty lucky in that arena.

-Other than work, I think that pretty much sums up my week. Or so I hope so at this time.

Have a great week!!

Saturday, Saturday, Saturday (journal writing for June 5th)

Where has the time gone. We are already half way thru the year! School is out, summer heat has arrived (well, in Florida, it has just returned to full swing) and Hurricane season is offically underway.......... I wish everyday was Saturday. The day where you have things you really need to do, but you don't really want to.. You have no where to be, no one to see, and if you want to you can spend the whole day in your jammies.. I would love to take the whole day and do nothing but lay under a big tree, maybe by a lake, in a cool breeze and read a really good book. (Ok, if you were to ask my husband and daughter, other than the tree being added to the picture, I already do nothing but read books!!!) Summertime with my family is what I enjoy the most, plus a good book or 2 (or maybe 3)

Happy Saturday!

What is my fave movie & why....... (for June 4)

First off, I am really slacking on my journaling for the month.... this is for Friday June 4........

My favorite movie probably would be "Urban Cowboy" with John Travolta and Debra Winger. I really don't have any idea why, other than I really like John Travolta. Men in wranglers! Country music...... I could watch this movie over and over again! And I have.. my favorite line from the movie is.... "Sissy did he hit you......?" Bud and Sissy.... love it!!!! love it!!!!!!

My second favorite movie would be "An Officer and a Gentlemen" with Richard Gere and again Debra Winger. There is just something about a man in uniform! And I love the end where Zach (RG) comes into the factory and carries Paula (DW) out and everyone is chanting "GO Paula".

So my two favorite movies I could watch over and over again are "Urban Cowboy" and "An officer and a gentlemen" Love them!!!! I guess I am just a true romantic at heart :-)

Happy Movie Watching!

"What makes You happy"

Wow, What makes me Happy? Well, there is a lot that makes me happy. But I will only list a few and tell you why they make me happy.

First, would be my family- my husband, daughter, mom and dad, sister and brother. I love spending time with all of them. Since my sister has moved to Colorado, so time spent with her isn't as often has it has been in the past. And of course, my brother is living in Oklahoma at this time But my parents are still close by (their house is on the market for sale, and then they will eventually be movning to Georgia....wow, everyone is moving away) I love spending time with my husband and daughter. Going to the movies, beach, or riding roller coaster with Cassidy. hanging with Shawn spending quiet time just being with him! When I am with my family I am HAPPY!!!!

Second, I love a good book. I am happy curled up on the couch, or in bed or taking a nice warm bubble bath reading a good book!!!

Third, I love a good movie. I love happy endings. I even love a movie that will make you cry. Sometimes you just need a good cry!!

I am very happy with my life. And I wouldn't trade anything!

Happy Thoughts!

"Color-Blue" (posting for Wednesday June 2)

Blue----what do I think of when I see the color "BLUE"

*The color of my daughter's eyes the first time I saw her
*The color of my dad's eyes.
*The color of my Big Grandma's eyes
*The big blue ocean
*The sky that goes forever in Montana
*The blue football field for the college (I think it is Idaho) now that is blue!!!
*Growing up, people would ask me if my eyes were real. (they are blue) Of course, I said they are my eyes and they are real!!!!
*The bedroom at my nan's when I was growing up
*Brand new baby boys!

These are just a few things that I think of when I see the color blue! So I guess, Blue would be considered my happy color!

"What my dream summer would be be" **this is my posting for June 1st**

My dream summer would be to take the whole summer off (June & July) from work, rent a motorhome and travel across the United States. Go to places we have never been before. Travel on roads that are not traveled often. Stay off the interstates if you can! Visits cities and towns, that are off the beaten path and have something interesting to offer.
Just pile everyone up and off we go! We could probably take Marley, but we have to have him loaded up with medicine so he could ride in the motorhome!
How much fun would that be? I am sure that there would be lots of laughing, maybe some yelling--after all that is close quarters for many weeks! But I am sure it will bring us closer as a family! Who knows, maybe one day we can do this, before everyone gets to old!
Happy Summer days!!!!!

Happy Summer Traveling :-)

Journal Writing

Ok, it is now June 3rd, so I am 2 days behind in typing this. But Cassidy & I started on June 1st writing in a daily journal. For everyday of this month we have a title page to write about. We will be doing this also for the month of July. And then on August 1st, we will be switching journals to read what each other wrote over the summer. I decided to this because I thought it would be a good way to maybe learn more about each other and also, to maybe somehow get Cassidy (and myself in writing daily). You never know, one day we really might enjoy reading these. So I am going to give it a shot, to typing mine on my blog here and also in my little notebook that I got just for this summer project that we are going to do.

So I am off and writing!

The beginning of the week....

Well, I have made thru yet another Monday. I got up went to work and I left work around 11 am, to pick Cassidy up from school, so she could get home and finish her English exam writing and take it back to school, so she wouldn't have to go to school tomorrow. She did it!!! Yea Cassidy :-)

There is just one more day left to this school year. And what a challenging year 8th grade has been for all of us. I am so hoping that next year goes better. This summer we are going to get on a schedule and stick to it!!! Stick to it I say!!!!!!

Cassidy is going to read 2 books this summer and both Cassidy & I are going to do a daily journal. We are going together, pick a day which we will exchange them and read what each other has written. I so hope this will help Cassidy over all.....

Well, I need to get ready for bed. And I will work on getting myself together with this blogging....

** We are going to start on daily journal writing on June 1st. And the 1st topic will be.... "What would be my dream summer"

Happy Monday!

Looks who is back..........

Hello Blogville.......

This is just a fast short note, to say I am still around. But as you can see above, a litttle blue blinking "training" box.. Yes, I am training to walk 60 miles in 3 days! Yes, you heard that correct. October 29,30,31, 2010, I am going to walk 60 miles with my sister n law-Debra, my sister Dianne and about 2000 other men & women. We are walking for the Susan G. Koemen Breast cancer.... So, we have to do some serious walking before October 29.... you just can't wake up on the 29th and go "I think I am going to walk about 20 miles today" and then sleep in a tent and get up and do it again!!!!!

So I will keep you posted... But you can also go to the susangkoemen3dayforthecure website and look up "boonesboobs", I am doing a litttle blog on there. Also, you can make a donation, I have to raise $2300 for the walk. So go check us out.

Happy Tuesday night!

What to do.......

Well, we have "sprung" forward...... I can only wish that we could stay with either time.. Why is it that just when you get used to one time it is time to change again? Why can't we just chose one and keep it! Here it is 935 pm on Monday night and it feels like it is only 835 pm..

I guess I need to update on the what is happening. This past Saturday, my dad, Shawn and myself took off on a 11.7 mile walk from Mt. Dora (our house) to the Cracker Barrel in Leesburg. Half way thru this walk, I was so wanting to quit! But I kept on trucking. (Plus my dad and Shawn were still walking and not complaining or mentioning that they want to stop.. So on we went) In October I am going to walk 60 miles in 3 days for the Susan G. Koeman for Breast Cancer, so I have to start training for this. (Since my surgery on my foot in December, I havent done much.)
So off we go.

(my computer is going to die, so I need to close this for tonight, and I will get back on track on this blog)

Happy Monday Night!!! :-)

Tuesday February 16, 2010

Ok, well here it is the 16th of February and I still haven't gotten my self together. I know, I know I was going to do this, I was going to do that......well, of course I have come up with all kinds of reasons not to. So I must get myself together and start moving forward with this.

So, I am going to start now.. Saturday is my mom's birthday and I am trying to find a good duck receipe to make her. I want to do the Julia Child's receipe from the cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking but looking at the receipe flipping back and forth thru the pages, I have no idea where to begin. So I need get serious and figure out how to do it. (Plus can you even find a duck to cook in February in florida??? My nan used to make it for my mom on her birthday, so it was possible at one time to find a duck! So I am on a mission... duck hunting.....

So I am off to get some stuff going.... laundry, scheduling, and watching some of the olympics. (that is a whole 'nother story)

Happy Tuesday!

Where do I start?......

I am sitting here with my new 3 ring binder and dividers and page protectors, ready to begin my journey of getting organized. But where do I start. I know, I know....it must be done in baby steps! Sometimes that is easier said than done, because I want this to be up and running already!!! I did get Shawn to hang up my new board in the kitchen, so at a quick glance--everyone can see what our week holds for us. (Thank you Shawn)

It is Wednesday evening and I am trying to gather what I need so starting on Sunday, hopefully I can begin my journey of getting organized

So here to my "3 ring binder"...."My Control Journal"

Where to start?........

Well, here it is the 18th day of the new year. I have been putting this off, hemhawing around it, thinking of ways to continue moving forward with the way things are going, but I have to (MUST) get serious and get organized!!!! So I am going to try and keep a daily blog of how I am doing at this. (If anyone knows me, they will tell you that being organized is a VERY LONG STRETCH for me) Just this morning, I spent 15 minutes looking for my ATM card before finally finding it! And Sunday I couldn't tell you where my drivers liscense was...ALL DAY! But both have been found. But this is not the only area I plan on working on...... weekly menus, shopping lists (and sticking to it) cleaning, staying on top of the laundry to name a few. So I plan on getting organized and going to blog about it to.

In all fairness to me, I am going to start fresh on this coming Sunday. (But I am going to gradually get stuff in order at night this week) One of my biggest challenges is not trying to jump to far ahead in the beginning, I do have to remember that I work full time outside of my home and I have a very active 14 year old daughter, and it is basketball season right now, and will be moving into track season. But I know that once, I get all in place our life (Family life) will be so much more productive. Wow, wait til my husband and daughter see what lays ahead! (They will be actively involved in this process also.

So I am off. I want to read a few minutes before I must go to sleep to start my day all over again.
